I am a Master of Health Studies student at Athabasca University (https://www.athabascau.ca/) and a respiratory therapist at Interior Health Authority (https://www.interiorhealth.ca/Pages/default.aspx) in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada. I am using this web space as an e-portfolio, and a space to document my professional journey. I will be posting artefacts I create during my courses, resources and links I want to save, and ideas I want to share, and allow people to comment on.

 

My employer has helped me define my professional obligations through a code of conduct, and policies and procedures that outline my scope of practice (https://www.interiorhealth.ca/AboutUs/Policies/Documents/Standards of Conduct for IHA Employees.pdf). It is my ethical and professional obligation to administer best practice, and that is what I strive for daily in my job. It is my legal obligation to protect patient confidentiality. I am a member of the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists and this organization also has a code of ethics I must follow.
